Folks, if you've been following the emergence of the SheWritesAI collaborative book: we have added some new chapters, and one chapter previously claimed has been freed up: AI-Human Partnership and Collaboration. Please get in touch this week if you'd like to claim it; we are moving forward with planning and the goal is to finalize the chapter list this week (by Sept. 13, 2025)!
I would love to help make some sort of infographic about our readers journey map in reading the book. Something I can see being in the middle or the end of the book. 😊
What’s the guideline of the books : how many pages per chapter ? Should we be concise? Images & graph usage ? Should we integrate codes in the examples ?
We need a writing guideline and a deadline to get this work done seamlessly
Let's give people some time to respond about the other chapters before we set a deadline. I also need to figure out how we're actually going to publish this book. Publishing a book is a lot of work - as I'm finding out with my own - and costs money; we have some options to explore that will affect the timing as well as the cost. Ballpark: we should probably aim for chapters to be submitted by ~November, with the book coming out in 2026Q1.
Good point, Farida; yes, we will need those guidelines soon. Conciseness is almost always good :) I have some thoughts on this from my experiences as a contributor, with seeing how other collaborative books are organized. Usually they provide word limits (ranges). Some allow images (B&W only for books that will be printed). IMHO code examples are fine if they fit the topic (and the code's not proprietary or confidential, obviously).
I'll write some guidelines down and add them to the page as soon as I can. I'm pleasantly surprised by the level of response so far and just haven't gotten to that yet ;)
To me, governance is primarily oriented to enterprises and government organizations. I see AI ethics as broader than just governance. For instance, my upcoming book on AI ethics is focused on families and small businesses and workers, and what they need to know. I'd like to keep them separate for now and let's see what the contributors' points of view are. Sound fair?
Hi Farida, good to know - I have a full book about to come out next month on AI ethics, so I'm happy to support. Would you prefer this topic instead of cybersecurity?
Cybersecurity and privacy are obviously related. I think having separate chapters will allow us to bring in distinct viewpoints. For instance, someone whose focus is corporate cybersecurity is going to be quite different from someone concerned about consumer and public privacy protections and the 'right to be forgotten'. So I'd like to keep this pair of chapters separate for now too.

I already can’t wait to read this book! Thanks for putting together the guidelines, I’m excited to get to work on it.
I’m excited that you’re in, Shelley! looking forward to reading everyone’s contributions. It’s going to be amazing to see it come together 😊
Deadline for submission?

Draft guideline has been added to the book page https://shewritesai.substack.com/p/books. Is there anything missing that you'd like to see added?
Fact checking is the responsibility of each author before submission 🙈
Of course! I'd hope it was obvious. I can definitely add that - best not to assume it :)

It will help a lot , so every writer will have a frame for the topic so the book will be cohesive and fluid .
Chapter 14 & 16 overlap , can be merged as one
Very fair , I was just suggesting

Chapter 14 @karen , I already have some works on it , will be happy to collab if you are interested
I can collab on ethics and write about cybersecurity..
I will look forward for your book

Ok. 👍🏼

Chapter 11 &15 overlaps so better put them together - my suggestion
